France - Burzet (Ardeche). For generations the inhabitants of Burzet, a remote little village in Ardeche, in southeastern France, have climbed a Stations of the Cross cobblestone path up a hill overlooking the valley to celebrate Good Friday. Today's reenactors still wear a local version of epocal costumes, and a crowd of locals and visitors follow them along the mile and a quarter long ascent, singing religious hymns and psalms..Christ is impersonated by Serge Audigier, who took over the.role held for many years by his father. The Burzet procession is a tradition dating back to the 13th century.
